This hand-colored lithograph, titled “Complicated Head Space“, is showing at the Remarque Print Workshop in Albuquerque New Mexico. The exhibition is titled “Into the Void” and there are some fantastic pieces in the show.
This piece is based on a famous photograph of Abraham Lincoln, with hand colored flowers inside of the portrait. A combination of imagery that interests me, to be sure, and also an investigation into the ideas and thoughts inside of Lincoln’s head. Perhaps thinking about his dead sons, who might be thought of as light and joyous memories, amidst so much darkness and death during the Civil War period.
This exhibit is up in April 2025. See the pieces at the exhibit.
